I just sent in my replay against Robert in my new section and it's already at third move. Currently we are in the CK Advance variation 3...c5. I lose a tempo in the beginning but from all accounts I have read I'm in a good position as I still have my light squared bishop open for operations in the field. This is my first real competitive test of the variation and I hope to get through he opening with no real problems.
On other news I had to send a second note out to Gary to get our match started. It's been two weeks now with no word from him. Hopefully I'll hear from him soon.
Allen on the other hand is working well with his English. Where I threw a wrench into him, he threw one back because he avoided the QGD so far. I think he has every idea going into avoiding this... and it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. Fortunately with the two books on the Dutch and a full database on the Anglo-Dutch Defense I should be okay... as the themes are all the same from what I have seen.

The CK is a great defense for those who like to a solid defensive formation and the ability to counter punch when White makes a mistake - which is almost always. Two of my CK games are on my blog at:

The Advance variation is the best one for White from my viewpoint as the Black player in the CK, much harder to meet than Panov or Exchange, and a bit tougher than the Classical variations. That said, even with in the Advance variation I am able to achieve equality which is the first goal of all Black defenses.
